IAG member Vueling selects DocuNet to support flight operations documentation management

Feb 27th 2018

Vueling has chosen DocuNet for the management, control and distribution of all its airline flight operations manuals, including OEM manuals for its A320 fleet. Vueling is the fourth member of the International Airlines Group (IAG) to select DocuNet’s full-service capability.

IAG members, British Airways,  Iberia and OpenSkies, are already using DocuNet as part of their operational environment and have started to establish a consistent and standardised document management process across their respective groups.

Currently operating a fleet of 104 Airbus aircraft to 100 destinations including Spain, Europe, North Africa and the Middle-East, Vueling recognised the need for a fully managed solution for all its flight documentation. The objective was to reduce the time taken for staff to manage manual content and be burdened with defining manual structure and page layouts. By choosing DocuNet, Vueling will benefit from Vistair’s specialist in-house document services team, thereby eliminating the need to handle frequent Airbus revisions. This will have the added benefit of reducing update and distribution time and save money in the process.

FILTERING CAPABILITIES

Usability features were also a key driver for Vueling’s decision to select DocuNet. Operating an extensive fleet of A319s and A320s, Vueling needed a solution centred around ease of use and ability to control content efficiently. DocuNet’s filtering capability will allow technical authors to filter manual content by both audience and engine type and ease the distribution of documents to airline staff in a controlled way. Furthermore, with manuals in both English and Spanish, Vueling will be able to filter and view documentation in the appropriate language, instantaneously.

COMPLIANCE

With growing pressure to demonstrate regulatory compliance, Vueling will further benefit from DocuNet’s compliance matrix. This makes it easy and simple to understand implications of changes in the regulatory environment whilst also demonstrating compliance to regulatory authorities.

A SIMPLE UPDATE AND MAINTENANCE PROCESS

By implementing the DocuNet full service all amendment instructions are now passed directly to the Vistair team through a simple online process with no requirement for any purchase of any software and minimal user familiarisation. The service also includes the use of DocuNet’s powerful indexed search function, which allows pilots to access relevant information quickly and effortlessly whilst seamlessly publishing to all users and devices including EFB and mobile devices via app.

Ian Herbert, CEO of Vistair comments: “It was fantastic to receive the Vueling’s vote of confidence for DocuNet and we are thrilled to be working with them and other IAG members. DocuNet’s functionality, design and development is based around aviation sector experience and customer feedback. Our overriding objective is to maintain DocuNet’s position as the leading product in the sector.”
