Qantas' selects DocuNet to support documentation management process

Qantas has reached an agreement with Vistair to implement DocuNet in order to enhance its operational processes and to reduce capital expenditure. DocuNet will be used for the management, publication, and distribution of its OEM manuals across its mixed Boeing and Airbus fleets.

Improving business operations

As part of their global strategy to streamline business operations, world-leading airline and iconic Australian brand, Qantas, were looking for an alternative solution to manage its airline documents and subsequently selected DocuNet as a comprehensive partnered solution. Leveraging the latest technology, Vistair’s dedicated documents team has particular expertise in the management of both Boeing and Airbus documents. Going forward this will ensure fast delivery of OEM manual revisions across Qantas' entire fleet.

Reducing XML frustration

Qantas was finding that the management of mixed fleets was proving problematic. The in-house team were having to understand and become adept on the use of two distinctive XML editors, both of which had their own software problems. This frustration was compounded by varying demand peaks, regulatory requirements and OEM updates which put too much pressure on the in-house team.

Usability and content control

Usability features were also a key driver for Qantas decision to select DocuNet. Operating an extensive number of routes to over 36 countries, Qantas needed a solution centred around ease of use and ability to control content efficiently. DocuNet's innovative features will allow technical authors to search and annotate manual content on the latest portable technologies, providing both flexibility and convenience. Furthermore, DocuNet’s InterACT platform automatically detects differences between OEM and Operator revisions, allowing for efficient editing and change control management.

Ian Herbert, CEO, Vistair comments: "It was fantastic to receive the Qantas vote of confidence for DocuNet and we are thrilled to be working with them. I have always been a believer in the transformative power of Docunet as a fully comprehensive solution for the management, publication and distribution of flight documents."
