Alaska’s largest regional airline, Ravn Air Group, has selected Vistair to implement its SMS platform to support their enterprise-wide safety management approach

Established in 1948, Ravn Air Group is the leading provider of regional air transportation and logistics services in Alaska. Headquartered in Anchorage, the airline utilises its fleet of 71 aircraft to provide passenger, freight, and charter air transportation services to over 115 destinations. The airline’s safety focus lies at the heart of both its operational efficiency and its people.

The decision to select Vistair reflects Ravn’s full commitment to an enterprise-wide safety and compliance culture, through an integrated safety management system, that has already been accepted by the FAA.

Vistair’s ability to support Ravn’s evolving safety requirements was fundamental to their decision. Adam Ricciardi, Director of Safety at Ravn Air Group comments: “Ravn serves remote destinations and we needed safety reporting software with complete stability, total security, and mobile flexibility that would ensure that our staff could both access and submit reports anywhere, at any time, offline as well as online”.

Designed with user confidentiality, transparency and feedback as its core, Vistair’s SMS software is user-friendly and has an intuitive interface that empowers proactive voluntary reporting. It has already proven itself to be an essential support for Just Culture mobilisation.

Equally its offline and online synchronisation capability provides the flexibility that the Ravn team needs to ensure safety reporting is both straightforward and time flexible.

Ravn’s  IOSA accreditation makes it the first and only Alaska-based airline to hold the certification. Vistair’s approach to quality management will also support future IOSA auditing practices.

Captain Bart Roberts, Chief Operating Officer Americas at Vistair comments: “Ravn has a clear understanding of what it needs to implement and manage an efficient and transparent safety management system. We are therefore delighted to have been selected to support this approach and I am confident that the implementation of Vistair’s SMS software will further accelerate Ravn Air Group’s regulatory and safety efforts.

“Vistair is a pioneer in both document and safety management solutions and this partnership agreement alongside the recent opening of Vistair’s North American operation provides a platform for further discussions in the region. This is an exciting time for Vistair.”

The agreement further includes ASAP support functionality, that will enable Ravn to submit ASAP and incident reports through an on-line system.

Based in Bristol, UK, Vistair is an industry leader in enterprise-wide safety management and document management systems with over 40 aviation clients worldwide, enabling digital transformation.  These include British Airways, Delta Air Lines, easyJet, Norwegian, Qantas and SAS.
