Vistair supports Bristol Samaritans in Dragon Boat Festival

Sep 07th 2018

Vistair is proud to support the Bristol Rotary Club’s Dragon Boat Festival, as part of our continuing support of charitable causes. Part of the Vistair team recently took part in the Dragon Boat Festival, in aid of Bristol Samaritans.

The Dragon Boat Festival is held annually by the Rotary Club of Bristol, in which up to 36 teams compete in races throughout the day in 40-foot long dragon boats.

On the 7th of June, hundreds of people came along to cheer the teams as they paddled the 250 metres alongside Baltic Quay.

Fancy dress dominated the proceedings, with a number of eye-catching outfits on display including Dad's Army costumes and Noah's Ark-style outfits.

Rowing in an elaborately decorated elongated canoe, the Bristol Samaritans team was no exception. Each of the crew nattily decked out in fluorescent green wigs and green tabards.

The team entered the 17th Dragon Boat Race and paddled their way through the sweltering heat to come 16th out of the 30 teams.

To date, Vistair has raised £1555 for Bristol Samaritans, and are looking to exceed £2000 in the near future.

The money raised goes to support the service provided by the Samaritans from their branch in St Nicholas Street, Bristol, allowing them to continue serving those who are in need of someone to hear them.

Samaritans help people with a wide range of problems, from mental health issues to homelessness, around the country.
